Meet Teca - 19' 1968 Lyman Runabout

Snake Mountain Boatworks is fast becoming the region's most experienced and capable source for structural and cosmetic work on Lyman Boats. TECA is our latest example. Watch her as she emerges from the shop completely restored.
Late last summer, Marselis Parsons and I ventured to Hacker Boatworks to examine Eleonora, a 1964 25' Lyman Sleeperd, that he subseauently purchased and Snake Mountain Boatowrks brought back to life.

When we returned with a trailer to bring Eleonora to SMB's shop, Marselis noticed "that interesting smaller Lyman under plastic" that was blocked up across the shed. She turns out to be a pretty rare 1968, 19' runabout, one of only 17 built that were powered by a Ford Interceptor 4.7 liter V8.

TECA eventually became ours. In this video, she emerges from the shop having endured some structural repair - ribs and planks, and a complete restoration of the coatings from keel to gunwale.

If the weather holds, we will launch her for a water test next week. Yes, wool hats and warm jackets and gloves will likely replace shorts and sandals for the trip.

original 50's kit boat

Hello all,
Michael Adams here with an offer to the club. While looking at a 1946 lightning at a friends he also said he had a kit boat that was never assembled he came across. It is a little runabout. He says all the pieces are there but my friend believes one of the keelsons will need replacing because of warping. It is a Taft Marine Woodcraft.

This is a free boat to a good home that will build it. Here are some photo's. Anyone interested let me know.

The air is electric as Brian prepares to cut an 18” diameter hole in the Lyman Cruisette's brand new seamed, planked teak foredeck. One mistake with the Festool router, the Drake will be severely wounded and disaster will rule the day.

Here is the moment of truth.
Starting in November 2011, we launched a virtual complete tear-down and restoration of the Drake, a 1967, 26' Lyman Cruisette. According to her build sheet, she was originally outfitted with seamed, teak planking.
What was left of that planking was removed. After replacing all of the foredeck, aft deck and gunwale framing, a new book-matched, seamed and oiled teack plank deck was applied. Here she is emerging from the Snake Mountain Boatworks shop on March 19, 2012.
 Enjoy the Drake's debut!

Installing the restored cabin house and roof, and all the hardware will complete this project.
